2.3 Homework Task 4a&b - Originate a music video production for a specific music track

Read over the post above and create an action plan of roles to be filled and jobs to be done before production next Monday.

Homework
Complete the post for Assessment 4a: Choosing the track/gaining permission - upload your pitch and presentation for last homework

   i. Analyse the lyrics and annotate them – post this on the blog
Look for:
·  meaning (what is the song about)
·  narrative (is there a story)
·  content (verse, chorus etc)
·  imagery (key images/hidden meaning/layers of subtext)

Each learner is required to individually originate ideas, select one idea and plan a music video. In class pitch your idea

ii. Having considered the tracks meaning imagery, (synaesthesia), decide on the interpretation (performance/narrative) and visual style – (Mise-en-scene, camerawork etc).

iii. Prepare pitch and present pitch to the rest of the group; your pitch must justify its visual effectiveness, its ability to enhance or market the music track and why it employs a particular style and what your influences are.

Homework: Now as a group, select the idea to carry forward to present to the client

Assess 4b “How to generate ideas for a Music Video” Portfolio

1.        Analysis of Artist & Track - Screen Grab and Blog Post explaining why you chosen this artist, their image, audience & the track (DIRECTOR did this during pitch)
2.        4 x Synaesthesia mood boards –
           (iii) Genre Conventions
           (iv) Intertextual references

           (i) timings,
(ii) interpretation of meaning of lyrics -  content, imagery, style, semiotics
(iii) narrative - equilibrium, disruption, resolution
(vi) duration of each section & changes in  pace or rhythm

4.       Individual contribution to the 500 word Treatment for each member
(i) How it will create or develop Image for the artist (descriptive words that link your idea to how it is creating a personality for the artist - sexy, rebellious, vulnerable, creative, underdog, criminal etc.)
(ii) How it visually interprets the track both music & lyrics
(iii) How it is on Trend for the Genre (with reference to competitors)
(iv) How and where it will be filmed over how many days (ie how will the shoot be split into sections etc)

The above is an excellent example of how you bring together all of your influences, mood boards, target audience research into 1 to back up your pitch and present it in an interesting creative way.

This is what you have to do to get Level 4 Excellent for your Pitch and your Test Footage

This demonstrates how this student has used the hours of independent study time to produce her grade A portfolio - on their own.
